Sustainability Cooling Award Winner!

Aqua are extremely proud to have been recognised at the 2024 RAC Cooling Industry Awards.

Aqua, in partnership with SCM Frigo, won the award for Environmental Collaboration of the Year, in relation to a cooling system we designed and installed for a UK based confectionary company.

Our “Golden Ticket Chiller” project saw us upgrade a customers’ aging chiller system with one incorporating CO2 chiller technology. As well as future proofing their business for the years ahead, they gained all the benefits of using a completely natural refrigerant.

Working with fluid leaving temperatures as low as -45°C and cooling capacities of MW+, CO2 chiller units are suited to low – or ultra-low temperature – applications. Plus, with the phase down of greenhouse gases, they’re a very cost effective option.

Refrigerant grade CO2, known as R744, is an incredibly sustainable choice, ideal for companies working towards Net Zero. CO2 has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) rating of less than 1, is non-toxic, non-flammable and non-corrosive. It also scores an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) figure of zero. From a technical perspective, there’s additional benefits. R744 has excellent physical properties, and, in addition to its low critical temperature point it also eliminates the risk of glide affecting your system’s operating parameters.

The awards, held at London’s Grosvenor House, celebrate industry innovation and collaboration over the last year. Aqua Director, Simon Davis, attended, alongside colleagues from SCM Frigo.

“It’s always great to win an award, but there’s something special about one that revolves around sustainability and the environment. It’s something that’s always been close to our hearts at Aqua and, over the years, we’ve focused on designing and installing energy saving, efficient temperature control solutions. To be recognised for that by our industry is a proud moment for me personally, and the Aqua team” explains Simon.
